NRS Pay is the card-processing product from National Retail Solutions, not the monthly POS software plan. Stores get quoted a $19.95 register fee and then discover NRS Pay is a second contract. The public processing numbers live on a different page from the POS hardware table.

Figures below are transcribed from nrsplus.com/credit-card, retrieved 2026-09-10. NRS can change them. A footer on that same page says a contract is required. Hardware that lists NRS Pay as required is on the NRS POS system price page.

What NRS Pay publishes as the Clean Rate

That page lists a Clean Rate of 2.49% plus 10 cents, with a $10 a month account fee. Card-not-present, keyed, is listed at 3.49% plus 10 cents in the comparison table. Setup is listed as free. Early termination fee is listed as $0. A credit card reader is listed as free with the processing plan.

The footer is stricter than the headline. Equipment must be returned in undamaged working condition at termination, or a $350 per device fee is assessed. Optional terminal assurance is listed at $6.95 a month. “Free terminal” and “$350 if you do not return it” can both be true. Ask which one applies to the device on your counter.

NRS states it is a registered MSP/ISO of named banks, including Elavon / U.S. Bancorp, Commercial Bank of California, and Wells Fargo, as printed on that page. That is their registration claim, retrieved 2026-09-10, not an endorsement.

Cash discount and EBT sit on different fee lines

The same page advertises a cash discount program. The body says the monthly fee is $0 for merchants who process over $18,000 a month. The footer on the same URL says the cash-discount monthly fee is $49.95, waived if you process over $10,000 a month, and that the merchant must comply with applicable laws and network conditions.

Those two waiver thresholds do not match. Do not pick one from a blog. Get the current addendum in writing. Dual-price posting rules still apply, which we cover on cash discount and dual pricing.

EBT Unlimited is listed as $49.95 a month with $0 per EBT swipe and no per-transaction cap on that plan. That is an EBT processing add-on, not SNAP authorisation. Authorisation still goes through USDA, which we walk on the EBT and SNAP page.

Rapid same-day funding is marketed as money in the bank the same day as the batch in most cases, including holidays and weekends, and elsewhere as 24 to 48 hours. Treat those as NRS’s claims on that page, not as a guarantee for your MCC.

How NRS Pay relates to the register you already priced

On the POS pricing table, Puma lists NRS Pay as optional. Cheetah, Panther, and the kiosk list it as required. Without NRS Pay, the software plans cost more per month. Buying the register and declining NRS Pay is a real configuration, not a hypothetical, if the hardware row allows it.

Loyalty (BOSS Club) is still a POS-plan question, not an NRS Pay rate. That split is on the NRS loyalty page.

Compare NRS Pay the way you compare anyone else: percentage, per-transaction, monthly, equipment return, cash-discount add-on, EBT add-on. Run your own volume through the fee calculator. Do not use NRS’s “other companies” column as a fact about some unnamed rival.

Counter Club’s published in-person sample is 2.50% plus $0.10, keyed and online 2.90% plus $0.25, with a $0 monthly fee on that sample schedule. Sample pricing applies to new accounts applying directly. Pricing is subject to underwriting, MCC and the merchant agreement; rates may differ and are subject to change. See pricing. If you have an NRS Pay quote, send it next to a written schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Is NRS Pay included in the $19.95 POS plan? No. That is software. NRS Pay is processing, with its own monthly and rate lines on the credit-card page.

Do I have to take NRS Pay to use NRS POS? It depends on the hardware row. Puma lists it optional. Several other bundles list it required.

Is the terminal actually free? The marketing table says free with the plan. The footer assesses $350 per device if it is not returned in working condition. Read both.

Which cash-discount monthly waiver is real, $10k or $18k? The page retrieved 2026-09-10 prints both. Ask for the current addendum.

Can I keep NRS POS and move processing? Ask in writing. The POS table prices a path with NRS Pay and a more expensive path without it. It does not describe every third-party acquirer.
