IT Retail POS is a grocery and market register, not a restaurant tablet and not a generic convenience kit. Stores look it up because dedicated grocery vendors are a short list, and because the public pricing page actually prints one monthly number.
Figures below are transcribed from itretail.com/pricing, retrieved 2026-09-10. Higher tiers on that page stay hidden behind a form. IT Retail can change both.
A supermarket shopping guide already lives at supermarket POS system. The buying page is grocery store POS. This page is the vendor catalog.
What the starter line publishes
Starter is listed at $49 a month, with an annual total left as dots until you unlock the form. The public bullet list for that tier includes a POS register with integrated payment processing, EBT, gift cards, and scanner scales, plus customer management, mass product import, purchase orders, mobile shelf labels, in-house charges, and custom processing rates.
“Custom processing rates” is not a published Visa schedule. Do not treat $49 as the card rate. Ask for the merchant discount in writing.
Growth and the unnamed third tier show ”$…/mo” until the form is submitted. Features listed in the locked columns include unlimited employees, QSR modifiers and kitchen printers, loyalty, mix-and-match, multi-store, vendor price import, and a handheld price checker. Those are feature claims, not prices.
The FAQ on that page says IT Retail is designed specifically for grocery stores and markets, including large catalogs, barcode scanning, integrated deli scales, EBT and SNAP, and inventory reporting. It also says no extra back-office computer or server is required, and that back office can be reached from any internet-connected device.
Hardware compatibility with registers you already own is “evaluated during a live demo.” That is not a yes.
What the homepage adds, and what to ignore
The homepage retrieved 2026-09-10 advertised 75 percent off hardware for a limited time, with a countdown timer. That is a promotion, not a hardware price list. IT Retail says it was founded in 1993 and lists an office at 191 W. Big Springs Road, Riverside, CA 92507. That is their published address, not a Counter Club location.
Do not copy their “world’s best” language. Compare the starter line, the processing addendum, scale certification, and EBT certification against a written quote.
A grocery scale that sells produce by weight still has to be legal for trade. That is a weights-and-measures problem, covered on grocery POS with a scale. IT Retail listing “scanner scales” does not replace an NTEP certificate or a state inspection.
How to read an IT Retail quote next to anyone else
Separate software, lanes, processing, EBT, and the scale. Run your card volume through the fee calculator on the processing half only.
Counter Club’s published in-person sample is 2.50% plus $0.10, keyed and online 2.90% plus $0.25, with a $0 monthly fee on that sample schedule. Sample pricing applies to new accounts applying directly. Pricing is subject to underwriting, MCC and the merchant agreement; rates may differ and are subject to change. See pricing. If you have an IT Retail PDF, send it.
Frequently asked questions
Is $49 the whole grocery stack? It is the published starter software line. Lanes, processing, and hardware are extra or custom.
Does IT Retail replace a c-store POS? They position it for grocery and markets. Lottery, pumps, and tobacco scan data are not on the public starter bullets. Ask.
Can I keep my current lanes? Only after they inspect the hardware. The FAQ does not promise it.
Is SNAP included? EBT is listed on the starter feature line. USDA still has to authorize the store. See EBT and SNAP.
Why is the rest of the price list locked? The page says the form unlocks the comparison and helps them route your store type.
