Is Clover owned by Fiserv? Yes. Fiserv’s Form 10-K filed 2026-02-19 describes Clover as its cloud-based point-of-sale and business management platform. You are not buying a standalone gadget company. You are buying a Fiserv product that a bank, ISO, or software vendor is allowed to resell.

Whether Clover fits a liquor or c-store counter is a different question, on is Clover a good POS system. Why two Clover quotes disagree is on Clover POS pricing. This page is ownership and distribution.

What Fiserv currently files

The 10-K retrieved 2026-09-10 from the SEC, accession 0000798354-26-000009, lists merchant acquiring and processing and “the Clover cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) and business management platform” in the same business overview. Small Business is described as including Clover, “our POS and business management platform for small business clients.”

Fiserv also writes that it is growing Clover through new and expanded partnerships, industries, and geographies, and that it enables independent software vendors to embed payments with Clover hardware. That is why a “Clover dealer” can be a community bank, a credit union program, a national ISO, or a software vendor. The white terminal can look the same. The merchant agreement is not.

The same filing says Fiserv does not manufacture the hardware. It buys terminals and Clover devices from third-party vendors and holds them until a customer purchases or leases them.

One named 2025 partnership in that 10-K: on October 1, 2025 Fiserv acquired a portion of The Toronto-Dominion Bank’s merchant processing business in Canada, and signed a multi-year managed-services agreement for TD to use Fiserv technology, including Clover, in its Merchant Solutions business. That is a Canadian example, not a list of every U.S. bank that resells Clover.

What “which banks use Clover” is actually asking

People search “what banks does Clover work with” because the demo came from a banker. There is no single public roster of every U.S. bank that resells Clover, and inventing one would be a lie the next week. The useful fact is the distribution model in the 10-K: partnerships and resellers, plus ISVs. Your quote names an acquirer. That acquirer, not clover.com, sets the processing rate, the monthly extras, and often whether the device is locked.

Ask, in writing:

  • Which legal entity is the merchant acquirer
  • Whether the device stays usable if you leave that acquirer
  • What leaving costs, including unreturned hardware
  • Whether software billing is Clover’s plan or the reseller’s add-on

Clover.com/pricing is the official package page. It loads as a JavaScript app. Transcribe the live screen. Do not paste a reseller PDF as Clover corporate.

Why ownership shows up on a bad day

If the register dies on Saturday night, you call whoever sold it, not a Fiserv switchboard you found in a 10-K. If you want to keep the hardware and move processing, ownership tells you the platform is Fiserv’s. Portability still depends on how the reseller locked the device. That test is on the pricing page, not here.

Counter Club’s published in-person sample is 2.50% plus $0.10, keyed and online 2.90% plus $0.25, with a $0 monthly fee on that sample schedule. Sample pricing applies to new accounts applying directly. Pricing is subject to underwriting, MCC and the merchant agreement; rates may differ and are subject to change. See pricing. If you have a Clover quote that names a bank, send the first page of the merchant agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Did Fiserv buy Clover last year? The 10-K filed 2026-02-19 describes Clover as Fiserv’s platform today. It does not narrate a 2025 purchase of Clover as a standalone company. Treat the current filing, not a rumor, as the owner.

Is my contract with Fiserv or with my bank? Read the merchant agreement. Many stores are contracted to the reseller or a sponsor bank, not to a consumer Clover checkout.

Can I buy Clover direct? Clover publishes hardware and plans. Distribution for small retail is still mostly through partners. Ask who the acquirer is.

Does Fiserv ownership make Clover better for a liquor store? Ownership does not add case-break or scan data. Fit is still the SKU and age-prompt problem on the Clover-for-retail page.

Where is the 10-K? SEC EDGAR, Fiserv Inc., Form 10-K filed 2026-02-19, linked above.
